Geolocation services like Foursquare are not new, however they haven’t taken off because they lacked the critical mass. Now Facebook has entered the market with Facebook Places. With Facebook’s 500m users businesses should take note.
Facebook places enable users to ‘check-in’ at locations. So, as a business, by users ‘checking in’ this means exposure to that users friends.
As a business what should I do?
- Set-up your business on Facebook Places
- Set-up a Facebook advertising campaign to build your followers. Facebook advertising can be targeted by gender, age, interests, marital status and most importantly geography.
- Build a campaign to reward those who are checking in to your business. We’re still investigating the options here so if you come across some good examples let us know.
